The motorcycle won't start?
Release date:2026.02.24

Many motorcycle enthusiasts have encountered a problem. Their motorcycles were functioning fine two days ago, but suddenly they couldn't start today. After investigating, there was no clue as to what was causing the issue, so they had to take it to a repair shop for resolution. So today, let's briefly discuss the situation of being unable to start the motorcycle and what I can do.

First of all, incorrect maintenance and adjustments can lead to uncertain fault causes for the motorcycle. If this is the case, we won't be able to enjoy the three-package warranty. So before conducting the fault repair, it's best to consult the manufacturer's customer service or the after-sales unit first. Let them roughly check it out. If we need their assistance for the repair, it's better to record a video during the repair process so as to have evidence.

So, based on the situation where the engine doesn't start, let's discuss together where we should check and where we should start troubleshooting when conducting our own maintenance.

Inspection of the ignition system

Remove the spark plugs and attach the spark plug caps.

Attach the spark plug to the engine, turn on the ignition switch, and close the off switch on your hand (please note here: Do not place the spark plug near the spark plug hole, as there may be combustible gas in the cylinder that could be ignited by the spark. For vehicles with guards, it is best to attach the spark plug to the guard).

Place the gear selector in the neutral position and firmly grip the clutch lever.

Press the power button.

If the ignition system is functioning properly, a blue spark will be emitted between the spark plug electrodes. If there is no spark, it may indicate that the spark plug is faulty and should be repaired at the after-sales service center. If there is a blue spark, we should turn off the ignition switch, insert the spark plug back into its position, and continue the inspection. If the ignition system is normal but the engine fails to start, it is likely that the ECU of the vehicle is faulty (assuming the battery and circuit are normal), and we should go to the after-sales service center to troubleshoot and diagnose the ECU controller.

If you are not familiar with the structure of a motorcycle or are a complete novice, please do not attempt to repair it by yourself. Doing so may lead to danger, cause injury to yourself, and further damage the motorcycle. Therefore, let professionals handle professional tasks. Also, I hope everyone can act within their capabilities and treat the vehicle with care.
