Machine filters also vary in quality and price, ranging from a few yuan to over a hundred yuan on the market. But what exactly are the differences between good and bad machine filters?
01 Machine filter steel plate
The selection and application of steel materials are involved in the housing, upper and lower cover plates, threaded cover plates and chassis cover plates of the oil filter. If the steel material is of poor quality, the mold will be thinned after processing, resulting in insufficient strength, sand holes or dark streaks, and is prone to "metal fatigue" (bursting or cracking) during use.
02 Check valve
To describe the function of a check valve in a simple sentence: It is to prevent the oil from flowing back when the engine is turned off, ensuring that the oil in the oil filter does not leak and guaranteeing a rapid oil supply when the engine starts next time.

Especially nowadays, there are more and more large-displacement motorcycles. The high-temperature environment of over 120℃ generated by high-speed operation, if the filter paper is not good enough and the filtering effect is insufficient, it will cause great damage to the engine if used for a long time.
04 Bypass valve
The bypass valve (also known as: safety valve) is another core component of the entire machine filter. When a motorcycle is running at high speed, it requires more engine oil for lubrication and protection. At this time, due to excessive pressure, the bypass valve will also open in a timely manner. There is no need to filter through filter paper; the engine oil can directly pass through the bypass valve, allowing it to flow to the engine more quickly and providing effective protection.
We have visited the market and disassembled many mechanical filters. The bypass valve of inferior mechanical filters does not rebound after being pressed once, and some mechanical filters are not opened deep enough, resulting in insufficient flow. Some low-quality filter machines on the market do not meet the pressure standards, which directly affects the flow rate and flow rate.
05 Filter Screen
Just now we mentioned that when starting cold or running at high speed, the bypass valve opens. At this time, the engine oil does not pass through the filter paper but directly flows through the bypass valve at the bottom. The engine oil will carry away some of the residues on the surface of the filter paper and enter the engine through the bypass valve, causing secondary pollution. With the filter screen, secondary filtration can be achieved, effectively protecting the engine.
