Analysis of Motorcycle Fuel Pump Faults!
Release date:2025.04.25

The four most common faults of fuel pumps:

One possibility is that it burns out. Once the fuel pump burns out, it won't work at all. The motorcycle definitely won't start. The way to identify it is to turn on the electric lock, and you can hear the sound of the fuel pump working. If you can't hear it, it might be that the fuel pump is broken.

The second reason is insufficient fuel pump pressure. Due to the quality of the fuel pump or long-term use of inferior oil, the fuel pump motor ages, resulting in insufficient fuel supply pressure. This will cause the idle speed to be normal but the accelerator valve to get stuck.

The third issue is oil leakage from the check valve of the oil pump. There is a check valve inside the oil pump, which serves to increase the pressure in the fuel line. If the check valve leaks gasoline, as long as the motorcycle stops for a while, the pressure in the fuel line will be released. Such a malfunction of the motorcycle will cause difficulty in starting. However, after you have been driving for a long time, the motorcycle can start again. Once it starts, it can work normally. When encountering this phenomenon, when the motorcycle is cold, first open the electric lock of the motorcycle. After the sound of the oil pump stops working, turn off the electric lock and then open it again. Repeat this process four or five times, and the motorcycle will start normally. After starting, go to the repair station to replace the oil pump.

The fourth issue is that the filter screen of the oil pump is clogged. As long as your motorcycle is filled with fuel from a regular gas station and the oil pump filter screen is cleaned every 30,000 kilometers, your oil pump can be used until the motorcycle breaks down. However, if you have used low-quality gasoline or there is too much sediment in the fuel tank, the filter screen is very likely to be clogged. After clogging, the performance of your motorcycle is very similar to that of insufficient fuel supply pressure from the oil pump. If the blockage is severe, it will directly cause the oil pump to burn out.
