Magneto is an important electrical equipment of motorcycle. Magneto consists of magneto rotor and magneto stator winding. The stator winding consists of a charging winding which provides working power to the ignition system and a power winding which provides working power to the charging system. With the increase of the use time of the motorcycle and the influence of many factors, the magnetic properties of the magneto rotor will slowly weaken. When the magneto rotor loses magnetism seriously, the normal operation of the charging winding and the power supply winding will be affected, and the effective value of the AC output voltage of the charging winding and the power supply winding will be reduced, thus affecting the normal operation of the ignition system and the charging system.
The first is the difficulty of starting the engine, which is caused by the weakening of the high-voltage ignition spark generated by the ignition system when the engine starts. Next, the battery will also lose power, which is caused by the reduction of the output power of the charging system.
Under normal conditions, the difficulty of starting the motorcycle is easier to attract the attention of the driver and maintenance personnel, maintenance personnel will first consider the ignition system failure, and then to check, test, rarely check whether the magneto rotor is not magnetic fault. In addition, under the condition of no special equipment, there is no good check and confirmation method for whether the magneto rotor is not magnetic fault. In most cases, the screwdriver is used to touch the magnetic steel of the magneto rotor, and the size of the magnetic steel suction is felt by hand to determine whether the magneto rotor is not magnetic fault. Because there is no certain comparative reference for comparative inspection, the accuracy of inspection judgment is low.
When the ignition system has a high-voltage ignition spark weakening, resulting in engine start-up difficulties, the test and detection of the charging winding fault suspects, should first analyze and judge, is the charging winding fault, or magneto rotor failure caused by the fault. We can judge according to the phenomenon that the effective value of AC output voltage of the charging winding and the power supply winding will be significantly reduced after the magneto rotor is magnetised.
Disconnect the connecting lead of the charging winding from the cable harness connector. The multimeter uses the AC voltage file to detect the AC voltage output by the charging winding. Use foot start or electric start to put the engine into starting condition and record the reading of the multimeter.
If it is confirmed that the effective value of AC output voltage of the charging winding is obviously lower than the normal value, the effective value of AC output voltage of the power winding should be detected, and the connection between the connecting wire of the power winding and the cable harness connector should be disconnected. The multimeter uses the AC voltage file to detect the effective value of AC output voltage of the power winding and record the reading of the multimeter.
If the effective value of AC output voltage of the power supply winding is obviously lower than the normal value after detection, it can be identified that the magneto rotor has a magnetic failure, and the magneto rotor should be magnetized or replaced.
If it is confirmed by testing that the effective value of AC output voltage of the power supply winding is normal, then it can be determined that the technical state of the magneto rotor is good, indicating that the charging winding is indeed faulty, resulting in the weakening of the high-voltage ignition spark, and a new charging winding should be replaced.
The advantage of doing so is that through detection and inspection, the suspected fault can be determined as soon as possible and the fault can be eliminated faster. If it is confirmed that the effective value of AC output voltage of the charging winding is significantly reduced after detection, the charging winding is replaced for comparative inspection, and the fault of weakening of high-voltage ignition spark still cannot be ruled out. Then, the magneto rotor is checked for loss of magnetism, and the operation time is increased.
If it is first to check whether the magneto rotor loss of magnetic fault, in the confirmation of magneto rotor loss of magnetic fault, you can replace the magneto rotor for comparative inspection. When confirming that the magneto rotor does not lose magnetic fault, the fault suspect can be locked in the charging winding, and then troubleshooting, you can get twice the result with half the effort. In fact, there is an easier solution to the difficult start fault caused by the loss of magnetism, that is, to directly replace the DC igniter, but the charging is weak this is no good way.
