According to the statistics of China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, in February, China's motorcycle industry operation improved, January-February cumulative production and sales decline narrowed significantly. With the support of a series of national measures to stabilize the economy and promote growth, the recovery of the domestic market has accelerated. Sales of electric motorcycles have increased significantly, while domestic sales of fuel-powered motorcycles have remained stable and increased slightly. More than 250ml large displacement recreational motorcycle domestic sales growth of about 7%, growth rate is better than the fuel motorcycle overall. The export situation is still grim, the industry is facing increased pressure. The decline in exports narrowed in the month, but remained on a downward trend. Shrinking orders and lack of demand are still serious problems.



01 Production and marketing



In February, the whole industry completed the production and sales of 1,010,500 and 1,008,800 fuel motorcycles, with a month-on-month growth of 31.44% and 23.75%, and a year-on-year growth of 13.72% and 10.10%; The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 771,000 and 727,400, with a month-on-month growth of 266.52% and 222.98%, and a year-on-year growth of 95.38% and 78.08%. In February, a total of 1,781,500 and 1,736,100 motorcycles were produced and sold, with month-on-month increases of 81.95% and 66.88%, and year-on-year increases of 38.83% and 31.06%.



Among them, the production and sales of two-wheel vehicles were 1,578,500 and 1,533,200, with a month-on-month growth of 83.94% and 68.09%, and a year-on-year growth of 39.76% and 30.69%. The production and sales of large displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 30,900 and 32,400, with a sequential growth of 34.35% and 32.79%, and a year-on-year growth of 38.57% and 31.71%. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 20.3 and 203,000, with a month-on-month growth of 67.81% and 58.23%, and a year-on-year growth of 31.96% and 33.95%.


From January to February, the industry completed the production and sales of 1,779,900 and 1,8222,900 fuel motorcycles, down 15.69% and 15.81% year-on-year; The production and sales of electric motorcycles reached 981,400 and 952,600, up 41.98% and 31.82% year-on-year. From January to February, a total of 275.93 and 2.775,400 motorcycles were produced and sold, down 1.45% and 3.89% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheel motorcycles were 2,435,300 and 2,444,200, down by 1.72% and 4.48% year-on-year; The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 53,900 and 56,800, with year-on-year growth of 0.75% and 8.14%. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 324,000 and 331,200, up 0.62 percent and 0.75 percent year-on-year.



From January to February, the production and sales of straddle bicycles were 916,600 and 964,800, down 21.69% and 19.73% year-on-year; Scooter production and sales were 1.293 million and 1.265 million, with year-on-year growth of 20.07% and 13.18%; The production and sales of beam bending cars were 210,900 and 214,500, down 6.1% and 8.02% year-on-year. In terms of the proportion of the sales volume of each model in the total sales volume of the second wheel, straddle, pedal and curved beam models accounted for 39.47%, 51.75% and 8.77% respectively.



From January to February, the production and sales of 50 series were 71,700 and 80,500, down by 5.1% and 17.59% year-on-year. 110 series production and sales of 213,900 and 207,000 units, down 3.51% and 10.76% year-on-year; The production and sales of 125 series were 638,300 and 648,800, down 20.01% and 20.61% year-on-year; The production and sales of 150 series were 385,600 and 393,900, down 11.97% and 10.98% year-on-year. The production and sales of 200 series were 97,000 and 100,000 units, down 30.39% and 30.35% year-on-year; 250 series production and sales were 62,300 and 62,500 units, down 5.2 percent and 5.86 percent year-on-year. The production and sales of motorcycles with large displacement above 250cc (excluding 250cc) were 53,900 and 56,800, with year-on-year growth of 0.75% and 8.14%.



From January to February, the production and sales of Zheng three-wheeled motorcycles were 32.36 and 330,900, with year-on-year growth of 0.53% and 0.67%. Among them, 263,500 and 267,800 general freight tricycles were produced and sold, with year-on-year increases of 4.7% and 4.35%; The production and sales of ordinary passenger tricycles were 59,900 and 62,900, down 14.24 percent and 12.23 percent year-on-year.


From January to February, the top ten enterprises (groups) of fuel motorcycle sales were Da Changjiang, Zongshen, Longxin, New Continent Honda, Wuyang-Honda, Luoyang North, Qingqi Suzuki, Chongqing De Chengwei, Guangzhou Dayun, Chongqing Construction, Sales were 257,500, 114,600, 104,000, 88,500, 87,000, 81,000, 79,300, 71,900, 68,800 and 61,400, respectively.




From January to February, the top ten enterprises (groups) of electric motorcycle sales were Yadi Technology Group, Dongguan Taeling Automobile Industry, Zhejiang Luyuan, Jiangsu Xinri, Zongshen Group, Jiangsu Huaihai, Shandong Bushi New Energy, Jinyi Automobile Industry, Rewo Heavy Industry, Chongqing Longxin. Sales were 594,700, 88,200, 77,200, 58,000, 44,400, 32,800, 11,700, 12,400, 60,700 and 5,000, respectively.

02 Export situation



In February, the export of Chinese motorcycles increased month-on-month, but decreased year-on-year, the decline narrowed significantly. From January to February, the cumulative export decline was still large, and the export decline reached 11% compared with that before the epidemic in 2019. Motorcycle industry export is still facing the plight of insufficient demand, orders depressed, the international competition in the stock market will be more fierce.



In February, the export of motorcycles was 489,200, with a month-on-month growth of 12.81% and a year-on-year decline of 5.61%. Exports amounted to US $348 million, up 13.48% month-on-month and down 12.43% year on year. Among them, the export of two-wheeled motorcycles was 458,000, with a month-on-month growth of 12.72% and a year-on-year decline of 5.56%; 31,200 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, up 14.21 percent month-on-month and down 6.43 percent year-on-year.


From January to February, motorcycle manufacturers exported $852 million in total, down 25.11 percent year-on-year. Total vehicle exports were 921,400 units, down 27.4% year on year, and the export value was 654 million dollars, down 27.78% year on year. The export of motorcycle engines was 126,700 units, down 26.29% year on year, and the export value was 32 million US dollars, down 4.65% year on year. 47,500 ATVs were exported, down 27.55 percent year-on-year, and the export value was $123 million, down 14.26 percent year-on-year. The export value of motorcycle parts was US $42 million, down 22.07% year on year.


From January to February, the top six series exports were 125 series, 150 series, 110 series, 200 series, 50 series and 250 series, with 31,100, 218,000, 138,800, 70,800, 46,000 and 34,200 units exported respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the 125 series dropped 31.09 percent, the 150 series 25.27 percent, the 110 series 10.83 percent, the 200 series 32.6 percent, the 50 series 37.99 percent and the 250 series 12.04 percent. From January to February, a total of 818,800 units of the above six series were exported, accounting for 94.88% of the total export of two-wheeled motorcycles. Exports of three-wheeled motorcycles were 58,400 units, down 26.34 percent year on year.


From January to February, the top ten enterprises in the export of motorcycles were successively: Da Yangtze River, Longxin, Zongshen, New Continent Honda, Daye, Dayun, Xiaxing, Guangzhou Tianma, Haojin, Sanya. The above ten enterprises exported a total of 532,900 units, accounting for 57.84% of the total export of motorcycles.
