With regard to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), Harley-Davidson is recalling 31,346 motorcycles in its US Sportster series. The reason is the defective coating of the headlight bulb cover: contrary to specifications, the coating is high-gloss chrome plated and may cause unnecessary heat to burn a hole in the vitreous body, thus causing the two filaments of the near-light and high beam to burn out. This will affect the 883 and 1200 Sportster models produced between 2019 and 2021
